There is an available cash rebate of $2.80 per watt for "grid-tie" systems which sell excess power back to the utility company. In addition there is a $2000 Federal Tax Credit. Businesses qualify for a 30% Federal Tax Credit as well as a 5 year accelerated depreciation. This tax credit is carried forward until it is used up, based on your Federal Income Tax. The rebate and tax credit can apply to your home or business, as long as the electricity produced by the renewable energy system is "primarily used to meet the tax payer's own energy needs."
